Hull Oral Health Team
A healthy smile helps children to -
- eat
- speak
- learn
- grow
with confidence.
The Hull Oral Health Team works with families, schools, nurseries and community organisations to help children develop healthy habits that support lifelong oral health and wellbeing.
Providing information, advice and support to help parents and carers understand how to keep their children's teeth healthy from an early age. Through education and prevention, we aim to reduce tooth decay and improve oral health outcomes for children and families across Hull.
Good oral health starts at home, but everyone has a role to play. By working together, we can help children enjoy happy, healthy smiles and reduce inequalities in oral health across our communities.
Hull's supervised toothbrushing programme for children aged 3 to 5 years, is delivered in selected nurseries, early years settings and schools. The programme is also available for children aged 3 years and over in SEND schools.
The scheme supports children to develop strong toothbrushing habits by providing a daily supervised toothbrushing session in a fun, safe and engaging environment.
The programme helps children and families by -
- encouraging twice-daily toothbrushing habits
- supporting children to learn the correct way to brush their teeth
- reducing the risk of tooth decay
- promoting healthy smiles and overall wellbeing
- reinforcing the importance of brushing at home
