Children’s experiences in their first 5 years can have a significant impact on making sure they have the best start in life. By supporting your child’s early development, you can positively affect their –

Parent and baby bonding, good nutrition, sleep, routines, and a safe, environment can help your child to develop as they should. If you need help or advice on any of these areas, contact your local Family Hub.

As your child grows, there may be times when you need to get advice or information to support your child.

We understand it is vital for parents and carers to have good mental health so they can support their children.

Behaviour and emotions

Positive Parenting Programme (Triple P)

These sessions run for 8 weeks, 2 hours per week.

Triple P is an approach that aims to help children develop to grow up to be healthy, responsible teenagers and adults who feel good about themselves. It is a parenting and family support system designed to prevent, as well as treat, behavioural and emotional problems in children. It aims to prevent problems in -

  • the family
  • school
  • community

before they arise, and to create family environments that encourage children to realise their full potential.

These sessions are suitable for parents or carers of children aged between 2 and 11 years old.

Special education needs and disabilities (SEND)

In Hull, we have many services and activities available to support your child’s needs. The Hull SEND local offer provides information for Hull –

  • parents
  • carers
  • children
  • young people

with a special educational need or disability from birth to the age of 25 years old. Find out more about the SEND local offer.

Our Family Hubs have activities and can offer support to you and your family.

Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) Workshop

The workshop will run over 2 weeks, 2 hours per session.

It will provide information about -

  • Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Sensory Processing Differences
  • the impact ASC and Sensory Processing Differences have on children's behaviour

The workshop will also provide information on services that can provide support to you and your child or children.

Mental and emotional health

There are lots of reasons why a child or young person might need support for their emotional wellbeing. These include changes at home, bereavement, or other causes.
